Born in a village located in the province of Bari, Italy, Franca and Anna Deflorio begin to cultivate their desire for fashion since childhood. Although the sister looked like twin sisters, they have different personalities. Anna, the elder sister, loves the behind-scenes of the fashion industry, Franca, on the contrary, is the creative aspect of fashion. She loves working with clients and has an extreme passion for figure drawings. Both share the same love for Italian Haute Couture, and they dream to become one-day famous fashion designers and skilled dressmakers. In 1994, once completed their fashion studies and apprenticeship as dressmakers, Anna and Franca founded their own fashion house where they designed and build high fashion clothes for prestigious Italian clienteles. For more than fifteen years, their business kept them very busy designing and selling women's dresses in Bari and traveling to Rome, Florence, and Milan.
In the summer of 2005, an American cousin returned to Italy to visit the sisters in Bari. Before coming back to the United States, she offered Franca two weeks vacation to visit Chicago. Franca, fascinated by all things American, sees in this offer not only a great opportunity to visit a big city but also an experience for personal enrichment and growth.
Thus, Franca's new American journey began. After less than four years, she studied English, adopt the American culture, got married, had a son, earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design from Columbia College Chicago, and launched two new bridal lines. In 2010, she founded the Deflorio Fashion Boutique; an exclusive atelier located in the West Loop of Chicago a few steps away from Union Station and the center of the city. The showroom continues and grew to offer a unique selection of couture dresses and various bridal services. Each garment designed and created by Franca and her team is uniquely custom-made and inspired by the quality fabrics materials from Italy. Anna is also part of the Deflorio Fashion designing team and a great help in sourcing Italian fabrics and embellishments for new bridal collections. As an affirmation of their passion, Deflorio Fashion wedding dresses are a true expression of beauty, style, and timeless Italian elegance.
